how bad are things going to get before they get better? the economy, global warming, civil rights, and terrorism. the attacks on mumbai were devastating, i literally watched the news with a dropped jaw. how many of these terrible incidents are going to occur before we, as people, put a stop to it? my eyes were just recently opened to how apathetic people can be to the plight of others. one of my dad's friends was over and i asked him how he felt about the attacks. his response was quite unexpected. he said "good, i'm sure they deserve it" what could the innocent people have done to deserve such an inhumane attempt to execute them? he then said "why should i care about them dying, when nobody cares about the genocide in darfur, or the people suffering in south sudan?" i understand where he's coming from, but....they're innocent people. Just because many people are ignoring the genocide/suffering in africa doesn't mean we should ignore the suffering of ALL people. maybe if we care enough about other people, then somebody will care about the africans. sometimes i make other peoples' suffering, my problem. sometimes i am so naive, that i think compassion will save the world. how stupid is that? its a cruel world out there, and i envy/pity the activists who try to shed light on their cause knowing that their efforts will most likely go unnoticed, yet they keep on trying. i guess we can't expect much from each other, as people. hopefully people wake up and see that unless everybody is involved we cant solve any of the problems afflicting us.
