MY FiNGER!!

today, dec. 8th, i have permanently scarred my left middle finger. during clothing class i was trying to backstitch on a pair of pajama pants we were making. i began to panic cuz i went to far with the stitch and i had to flip the pants and attempt a different backstich from the other side. well, most of you don't know this, but i am not the worlds greatest backstitcher, in fact i am horrible. the second attempt was going horribly and it looked like the machine was about to "eat" my fabric. i decided to pull my fabric back, but while trying to save my pants i made the dangerous mistake of not watching my fingers...with a loud, sickening crunch, the needle on the machine went through the center of the nail of my middle finger, twice! i quickly pulled my finger back, which broke the needle off the machine and left it in my finger. picture this: a bloody finger with a cracked nail and a needle sticking out of the side of it. sick isn't it? i stared at my finger for a quick second and started crying. by now people have started to gather around me and gasp at the horrible, mangled finger. next, the teacher walked me to the nurse and tried to calm me down the whole way there, but i just kept tearing up and looking at my finger. the nurse told me "i'm sorry, there is nothing i can do for you. i don't have the proper equipment to take the needle out. you'll have to call a parent to take you to the emergency room" i called. i waited for almost 30 min cuz my dad misunderstood the nurse and went to my sister's school. during my long, tearful wait i was comforted by many nice people. thank you. i went to the doctor, she took out the needle [blood was gushing out of my finger & it hurt like a mother!] and ordered an x ray to see if there were fragments left in my finger. there were a few itty bitty pieces, but she said it would not be worth it to rip my nail off, dig through my finger and possibly come back empty handed because the pieces are so small. now i'm on antibiotics for a week and i'll have to check in with her again in a few weeks. my finger is still throbbing so i'm walking around with it above my head to make it throb less and now i have to go soak my finger in warm, soapy water. bye!
